Project Engineer- Manufacturing

Hybrid-Cheltenham.

Salary up to £42k subject to skills & experience, plus a fantastic benefits package including a company bonus!

But, to get to where we want to be, we are looking for a Project Engineer-Manufacturing to drive forward our operational efficiencies within our manufacturing operations. Find out more below!

What you’ll do:

Working within the manufacturing system group and reporting to the Manufacturing Engineering Manager, you will build a high performing, continuous improvement culture through the coaching and development of a group of engineering professionals, technicians, and production associates.

Key Responsibilities

You will build an efficient factory to delight our customers.

  • Optimise assembly and test processes by engaging with the Production teams to drive out waste and deliver performance in line with the calculated optimal VA/NVA ratio

  • Lead, and Drive the Continuous Improvement projects for the area of responsibility by applying Lean Manufacturing tools (5S, SMED, Error Proofing, Flow, Pull, TPM, VSM, Kaizen, Problem Solving, Visual Management) to achieve or exceed the facility goals for efficiency and cost.

  • Develop a culture of continuous improvement through the rigorous application of proven tools and methods.

  • Provide industrial engineering support to verify and modify product routing times, cell schematics, break points and optimum manning levels.

  • Provide technical support and input to a variety of product and process value engineering activity.

  • Utilise data to systematically identify the optimal ratio between Value Added (VA) and Non-Value Added (NVA) activity within a variety of manual and semi-automated assembly and test processes.

  • Support the drive to a Smart Factory, utilizing data driven techniques and software packages

  • Lead, inspire, and develop the skill sets of junior Engineers and Technicians

  • Be a role model within the Assembly Manufacturing Engineering function.

  • Ensure adherence to the Kohler Operating System (KOS) elements – specifically Safety, Culture, Quality and Production Flow.

Skills/Requirements

-Demonstrable positive and proactive attitude.

-Capability and passion to develop and implement a significant program of continuous improvement.

-Proven history of implementing significant continuous improvement projects with real and measurable business benefit.

-Proven competence and previous success in an industrial engineering role.

-Experienced in the application of Six Sigma and Kaizen improvement tools.

-Bachelor or Masters Degree or equivalent experience in a manufacturing, engineering or operations environment.
