ASM Global Food & Beverage Operations Manager in Long Beach, California

Position: Food & Beverage Operations Manager

Department: Food & Beverage

Location: Long Beach Convention and Entertainment Center, managed by ASM Global

Reports To: Food & Beverage Operations Director

FLSA Status: Salaried, Exempt

Rate: $70K-$80K

Summary: Join the Savor F&B team at the Long Beach Convention and Entertainment Center as our new Operations Manager! We're seeking a dynamic individual with experience to enhance our banquet, retail/concessions, and bar operations. You'll collaborate with two other Food and Beverage Managers and the Food and Beverage Operation's Director to ensure flawless event execution. Our location is under contract with Unite Here Local 11 Union.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the Operations Director to create event plans, schedule, order products, and assign duties.

  • Maintain labor costs and budget goals.

  • Work with the Scheduling Coordinator to ensure correct scheduling of Union Employees for events.

  • Create 'Banquet Event Orders (BEO) packets' for supervisors, captains, and servers.

  • Oversee food and beverage operations during events for client and customer satisfaction.

  • Compile daily consumption reports as required by BEOs.

  • Coordinate with the Stewarding department to ensure timely product delivery.

  • Supervise and monitor attendants during service.

  • Collaborate with the Retail Sales Manager to plan concessions services, liaise with subcontractors, and schedule power/internet drops.

  • Ensure accurate Point of Sale (PoS) setups.

  • Maintain safety and sanitation standards.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • Extended Hours May be Required

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Oversee hourly staff supervision.

  • Assist in developing and implementing SOPs and training programs.

Work Contacts: Daily interaction with the Food & Beverage Director, Operations/Sales/Culinary, Stewarding teams within F&B, as well as Event Services and Utilities for daily operations.

Physical Effort: This position requires stooping, lifting up to 50lbs, substantial walking, and manual dexterity to operate equipment.

  • Flexibility to work nights and weekends.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.

  • Serve Safe (for Managers) certification preferred.

Working Conditions: Works throughout the building, subject to wet floors, temperature extremes, and excessive noise.

Minimum Requirements:

  • At least three years of management experience in a food and beverage facility servicing concessions, catering, and special events.

  • Advanced oral and written communication skills.

  • Strong customer service orientation and ability to collaborate with staff.

  • Results-oriented with the ability to meet budgetary goals.

  • Excellent organizational, planning, communication, and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.

  • Serve-safe certified.

  • Detail-oriented and service-oriented.

Education and/or Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent, plus 3 years of related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Previous management experience in a similar venue.
