The Director will also participate in strategic direction and goal setting for these activities, as a member of a leadership team. Partnership development and management activities [50%] will include: * Building relationships to expand and deepen Forever Green's network; stewarding innovative collaborative projects based on mutual interests, e.g., with farmer groups, agricultural commodity groups, rural communities, the private sector, and advocacy groups. * Supporting a set of working groups and special projects, and e.g., Forever Green's Forever Equitable Project, which is working to advance equity and inclusion through the scaling of CLC agriculture. * Participating in strategic thinking and planning efforts. * Participating in fundraising, including development of funding proposals and associated administration. * Serving on the leadership team of Forever Green along with peers leading the R&D and Commercialization efforts, and with the Forever Green executive directors. Communications activities [50%] will include: * Collaborating with other communications professionals in Forever Green to manage and implement strategic communications about Forever Green activities, including via internet, social, and print media, both earned and internal. * Leading a redesign of the Forever Green website(s). * Coordinating outreach events for a wide variety of sectors and stakeholders (e.g., industry, farmers, advocates, and policymakers) to forge cross-sector partnerships, including the annual Forever Green booth at the Minnesota State Fair. * Building Forever Green brand awareness among private-sector partners. * Overseeing development of CRM system to enhance engagement of partners, growers, supply chain actors, and others. SALARY: Competitive, commensurate with background and level of experience. Qualifications Required: BA/BS degree plus at least six years of experience. The Director of Partnerships and Outreach will have excellent interpersonal and relational skills, and training and experience relevant to development and management of collaborative projects and relationships, and to communications. The Director will also have the ability to understand and communicate the core scientific and technical activities of FGP (crop improvement, agronomy, soil and water science, food science, biosystems engineering, sustainability transitions). Desired: Established relationships with relevant private, public and non-profit organizations in the Midwest region; training and experience in strategic communications; experience with institutional sustainability programs. An advanced degree (master's or doctoral level, or equivalent) in a relevant field, and prior experience in program and operations management and leadership in a relevant organization or institution. A strong commitment to advancing equity and inclusion, with demonstrated experience. About the Department is a multi-sector collaborative, housed within the , that is pursuing a integrative strategy for clean water, soil health, and rural economic vitality. The strategy is based on augmenting current crop production systems with economically viable perennial and winter-annual crops. Such crops and systems enable agriculture to move toward continuous and productive living plant cover of soil across landscapes and watersheds, enhancing agricultural production while also protecting soil, water, wildlife, and building rural economies. Forever Green's crop R&D and commercialization activities are based at the University of Minnesota. Forever Green's cross-sector part ership with non-profit, government, and private entities works to develop supportive policy and economic models. In sum, Forever Green works to develop new perennial and winter annual crops, new agricultural production systems that integrate these crops, new supply and value chains that provide profitable markets for these crops, and a supportive climate of policy and opinion for continuous-living-cover (CLC) agriculture. Cross-sector collaborations are crucial to the work of Forever Green. To continue to build the scope and impact of such collaborations, Forever Green is hiring a Director of Partnerships and Outreach, a newly created position. The Director will take the lead in management and implementation of strategic partnership development and communications to advance Forever Green's cross-sector collaborations and reach strategic audiences. Collaborative efforts will span partners housed within the University of Minnesota, and external partners working on agriculture, conservation, and economic development across multiple sectors.
