Our Technology team is responsible to support the Cognosante business workstreams as they support the CMS business requirements and objectives for the ER&R/1095A program through development, testing, deployment, infrastructure support and application support activities. Additionally, the Technology team is responsible to lead technology advancements and develop a technology roadmap that provides a vision for the future system architecture built to optimize the functions and features of all delivered solutions.

What is the position?

Cognosante is seeking a motivated, experienced Business Intelligence Developer with strong technical, logic and interpersonal skills who is up for the challenge of joining a high-performing development team. The Business Intelligence (BI) developer is responsible for building, implementing and supporting Microsoft BI solutions. The right individual will possess experience in all stages of BI project work (gathering requirements, logical design, physical design, implementation, testing and deployment). The BI Developer should have a firm grasp of BI implementation methodologies and will have in-depth experience with the Microsoft BI Stack (SSIS, SSRS and SSAS (Tabular Mode). The candidate will have strong T-SQL skills and sound PowerBI (DAX) development experience. Hands on experience with Data Visualization tools such as SSRS, PowerPivot and PowerBI. In addition to development activities, developers are expected to participate in SCRUMS and develop code following an agile methodology. What will I get to do?

As a Business Intelligence Developer you will work directly with business subject matter experts to transform business requirements into complex technical solutions while liaising with developers, applications/operational staff, technical project managers, test engineers and cloud engineers. You will develop automated, performant, streamlined processes that use multiple disparate data sources to create data solutions to meet business needs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Requirements gathering, research to develop insightful conclusions and generate solutions to address user needs

  • Fielding requests from stakeholders, clarifying requirements, and responding with data that meets the end-users need.

  • Building complex SQL queries to bring multiple data sources together.

  • Perform advanced data analytics in order to make recommendations on improvements

  • Database/data warehouse design and development of ETL processes

  • Designing and developing tabular cubes/models for optimal performance and ease of use

  • Deployment and configuration of cubes/tabular models

  • Assist in documentation of current processes and development of documentation for new processes along with other methods of knowledge sharing.

  • Utilize Power BI or other BI Platform technologies to creatively display complex data in a manner that can be digested by a wide audience.

  • Migration of existing deliverables to Power BI

  • Ensuring data accuracy, performance, usability, and functionality requirements of BI platform

  • Participation in the full software development life cycle, including solution design, development, code review, source code control, testing, deployment

  • Design and develop Reports from Data Warehouse using SSRS & SQL Stored Procedures

  • Attention to detail and accountability to meet critical deadlines.

  • Flexibility in schedule depending on business need. While night and weekend work is generally not required, critical deliverables must go out on time

What qualifications do I need?

Required minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent. OR 4 years’ relevant experience in lieu of degree.

  • 7 additional years of relevant experience.

  • Experience with programming or SQL or BI platform.

  • 5+ years of experience with ETL design and development using SQL, Data Factory, Snowflake and SSIS

  • 3+ Power BI/DAX experience

  • Experience working within an Agile development environment or development and testing activities

  • Must be a US Citizen or Authorized to work in the US (if not a citizen) and a resident of the US for at least 3 years within the last 5 years.

What additional characteristics will help me thrive?

  • 5+ years T-SQL experience including database/data warehouse design

  • Knowledge of one or more Azure data platforms and tools such as Data Factory, function apps and DevOps

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, time management and organizational skills

  • Able to multi-task and follow through on assignments to completion

  • Ability to prioritize work with tight schedules, target dates and shifting priorities

  • Proven ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment

  • Working knowledge and experience with GitHub

Compensation

$113,927.72 - $187,981.83

The pay range for this job is determined by various factors, including but not necessarily limited to location, responsibilities of the job, and alignment with market data. When determining a salary for this role, the following factors may be taken into consideration - contract-specific affordability, education, knowledge, skills, competencies and experience. The estimate displayed represents the salary range for this position and is just one component of Cognosante’s total compensation package for employees. It is not necessarily reflective of actual compensation that may be earned, nor a promise of any specific pay for any specific employee.
